ORCAS announces The ORCAS Biodiesel Guide for Small-Scale Producers ORCAS has created an on-line resource for information on how to start a small business for the production of biodiesel and where to find financial and technical assistance.

Deemed Export Workshop Findings Detailed in ORAU-ORCAS Letter to Undersecretary of Commerce In recent years higher education has become a global enterprise, with American universities competing on a global stage for the best faculty and students and branching their campuses out into other countries. U.S. Government should take a new approach to assessing the effects of climate change Current science is adequate to assess impacts of climate change scenarios at regional scales and below with a high level of confidence is one of the findings of a new report by the Oak Ridge Center for Advanced Studies entitled “Regional Climate Assessment of Resource Vulnerabilities.”

ORCAS Director Paul Gilman Releases Harris Poll Findings on Climate Change In order to better understand current perceptions, the Oak Ridge Center for Advanced Studies (ORCAS) commissioned Harris Interactive to conduct a nationwide survey of 1,004 American adults by telephone September 23-26, 2005.

"The Climate is Changing -- So What?" Prominent ORNL Researcher Poses Question as Part of the Next ORCAS Seminar Series Thomas J. Wilbanks, a corporate research fellow at ORNL, will speak next week as part of the Oak Ridge Center for Advanced Studies Seminar Series. Dr. Wilbanks will speak on climate change in an address titled —The Climate is Changing – So What?“ on July 13, 2005, in the Lecture Hall (Room 128A) of Building 5100 at 11:00 a.m.

"Outlook for Nuclear Energy" to be discussed by Top Department of Energy official at Oak Ridge Center for Advanced Studies Dr. K.P. Lau, a top official for the United States Department of Energy, will be speaking in the Oak Ridge Center for Advanced Studies (ORCAS) seminar program on the "Outlook for Nuclear Energy" on July 6, at 11 a.m. in the Lecture Hall in Building 5100.

Top ORNL Researcher to Address "Ending the Energy Stalemate" at Oak Ridge Center for Advanced Studies Dr. Marilyn A. Brown, the deputy director of Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Engineering Science and Technology Division, will speak next week as part of the Oak Ridge Center for Advanced Studies Seminar Series. Dr. Brown will speak on “Ending the Energy Stalemate: Facts and Figures from the National Commission on Energy Policy” on June 30, 2005, in Building 5100 at 11:00 a.m.

Leading Researcher to Speak on Nanomedicine at Oak Ridge Center for Advanced Studies Dr. Susan E. Cozzens will lead off the Oak Ridge Center for Advanced Studies Seminar Series next week. Dr. Cozzens, of the Georgia Institute of Technology, will address "Policy Issues in and around Nanomedicine" on June 21, 2005 in Building 5100 at 4 p.m.
