Workshop on Innovation and Academia

The Annual Meeting of the Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) Council of Sponsoring Institutions was held March 6-7, 2007, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. In conjunction with the ORAU annual meeting, the Oak Ridge Center for Advanced Studies hosted a workshop on Innovation and Academia.

The National Innovation Initiative (NII) defines innovation as the intersection of invention and insight, leading to the creation of social and economic value. This workshop focused on innovation in higher education. How are we teaching innovation, do we recognize innovation on our own campus – in research, tech transfer, and business? Key leaders in the national discussion on innovation were present to participate in discussions and case studies.
